Annual report highlights reliable service, strong performance and continued investment in the region’s future
Sacramento, Calif. — The Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer) released its 2025 State of the District Report, highlighting a year of dependable service, strong operational performance, and continued investment in the critical infrastructure serving more than 1.6 million people.
In 2025, SacSewer completed its first full year operating as its own employer, strengthening accountability and streamlining operations. The transition marked a significant organizational shift, and it was handled without disruption to customers or the community—with SacSewer meeting or exceeding its core service commitments throughout the year.
“Through a year of significant change, our priority remained the same—delivering reliable service every day for our customers,” said SacSewer General Manager Christoph Dobson. “This report reflects our commitment to the community and the essential work we do to protect public health and the environment, now and for generations to come.”
The State of the District Report also highlights SacSewer’s progress on key initiatives that support long-term reliability and regional resilience, including major capital investments and the continued advancement of Harvest Water, California’s largest agricultural water recycling project.
To support future service needs, SacSewer also finalized a new 10-year Strategic Plan focused on maintaining critical infrastructure, supporting growth, and delivering cost-effective, sustainable service.
