Being a Sewer Steward

Here’s a few tips on how we can all become better sewer stewards to safeguard the sewer system and the environment.

Stop the Clog: Help keep your sewer pipes clear by properly disposing of fats, oils, and grease after cooking by following these easy steps: Can it and Scrape it!

No Wipes in the Pipes: When disposable wipes are flushed—even wipes labeled as flushable—they bind with roots, grease, and debris inside pipes and create blockages. Only human waste and toilet paper should ever be flushed. Everything else should go in the trash.

Don’t Flush Your Meds!: Flushing unused or expired medications down the sink or toilet can pollute the environment. To prevent misuse and keep medications from entering our waterways, please dispose of unused prescription and over-the-counter medications responsibly.

Early detection of sewer problems helps us better protect public health and the environment.
